Born on May 17, 1956, Saget grew up in a Jewish family in Philadelphia. For a short while he even lived in California, however soon the family moved back to Philadelphia. Getting decent grades in school, he first aspired to become a doctor however he later changed his mind and focused on acting. It was his English teacher, Elaine Zimmerman, who persuaded young Saget to work on his talent and seek a career in films.
While studying at Temple University, he first worked on a black-and-white film “Through Adam’s Eyes” and then later after graduating in 1978, he worked extensively on his skills.
During the 1990s, Saget worked on both “AFV” and “Full House” simultaneously. Later he even worked as a director on the television movie “For Hope”, which was based on the life of Gay Saget, his sister. After that, he even directed a movie titled “Dirty Work”. The cast included actors such as Artie Lange, Norm Macdonald, Traylor Howard, and Jack Warden. However the movie could not do well at the box office and thus, he resumed to acting and even worked as a host.
