Born on February 20, 1963, Charles Barkley spent his formative years in Leeds, Alabama. He did his schooling from Leeds High School and at first, he made a failed attempt to play for the varsity team as he was 5’10” (1.78 m) tall and weighed 99.8 kg (220 pounds). Although once in the senior year, he grew to 6’4″ and soon selected for the varsity team.
Later while studying at Auburn, he continued playing the game and excelled at it. Soon before his final year, he became eligible for the 1984 NBA draft. Once he became active on the professional level, he started maintaining his weight for better results on the court. During 1984 to 1993 he played for “Philadelphia 76ers” (also known as the Sixers), then in between 1992 to 1996 he played “Phoenix Suns” and then till 2000 he was selected for “Houston Rockets.”
Due to compulsive gambling, the player has lost $10 million till now, losing $2.5 million alone in a period of six hours. Still Barkley justified it saying that he can afford it so it’s not a serious issue for him.
