Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on November 26, 1975, Khaled often describes himself as a devout Muslim. He grew up in a Palestinian family with his parents working as musicians, mostly doing Arabic music. Coming from a musical background, he himself showed early interest in rap and soul music, which even his parents supported.
In his initial days, he worked at the New Orleans record store. There he met Lil Wayne and Birdman for the first time. Over the subsequent years, he started working on his own music style, building contacts with young less known artists and hosting radio shows.
Till date, he has worked with many famous rappers, such as Rick Ross, Ace Hood, Birdman, Lil Wayne, Future, Chris Brown, Busta Rhymes, Kanye West and John Legend.
