Born on August 16, 1954, James Francis Cameron actively works as a director, screenwriter, producer and a philanthropist. Son of Phillip Cameron and Shirley (née Lowe), James spent his formative years in Chippawa, Ontario. He was never much interested in formal education and thus before his graduation, he eventually dropped out of college. Next he started working as a truck driver to make the ends meet. In the meantime, during breaks he used to study thesis about front screen projection, optical printing and dye transfer.
In 1977 after he saw Star Wars, he decided to quit his job as a truck driver and enter the film industry. At first he started making mini science-fiction videos along with his two friends. Later he was selected as a production assistant for the movie Rock and Roll High School in 1979.
Gradually he secured his place in Hollywood as a very efficient director. For the movie Titanic the budget assigned was $ 200 million, whereas for his movie Avatar (2009) the budget surpassed $ 300 million.
