Born on December 25, 1946, Jimmy spent his formative years in Mississippi, while he grew up in Mobile, Alabama. Son of Mary Lorraine and James Delaney Buffett, Jr. Buffet completed his primary education from McGill Institute for Boys and later graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. After getting a degree, Buffett first started working for Billboard magazine in Nashville.
He started as a country artist in 1960s in Nashville, Tennessee. Then in 1970 he recorded his first album “the folk rock Down to Earth”. During his struggling days, he played for drinks at the Chart Room Bar in the Pier House Motel. Even today after so many years, he frequently visits those same old hotels to get inspiration for his upcoming songs and books.
