After her formal schooling, she attended the University of Texas at Austin (UT). Padian graduated in 2003 with a photojournalism degree and later started working as an intern at D magazine. She produced numerous fashion shows in Manhattan after which Padian got a job in Architectural Digest in New York city. Her new job was that of an assistant to Paige Rense. Working hard over the subsequent years, she was quickly promoted to assistant editor.
After working for 4 years, Padian returned to her hometown as Rense retired. However, during that time period, she had developed business skills which later helped her while managing her own shop, Mary’s Finds. Regarding her shop, she once said in an interview “I price things as I would buy them and make things as I would like to see them in my home.” After all from chairs, to lamps to dressers, one can find items lucratively priced.
While working at her shop, she was discovered by the Storage Wars producers, who convinced her to appear on the show. Initially, Padian made her debut in season 2, appearing in two episodes however later she became regular.
