Born to Doughtry “Doc” Long, a teacher and Talita (nee Gillman), a printmaker, Nia Long spent her childhood in Lowa City. She did her schooling from Westchester High School in 1989, where she showed much interest in gymnastics, ballet, guitar, and acting.

In 2010, Ime Udoka started dating Nia long. Soon they had their first child in 2011 and then in 2015, the couple got engaged. She was previously married to  Massai Dorsey.

Apart from family time, the actress also contributes to Sterling Children’s Home. There she works as a motivational speaker.

Her political interest lies with the democratic Party, as she actively supports the president, Barack Obama. In 2012 she also became his vocal proponent and since then many times she has advocated on his behalf.

She started her career with a Disney TV movie, where she worked along Brian Keith, Tim Thomerson and Sean Astin. Nia got her initial fame after appearing “Guiding Light” as Katherine “Kat” Speakes. Gradually her career gained momentum, as she later appeared in some supporting roles and then in leading roles.
