Born on June 16, 1970, to Mary and Philip Anthony Mickelson, Phil was raised in California and later in Arizona. From a young age, he used to imitate his father on his golf skills. He mirrored his right-handed father and thus became a left handed golfer. Due to this, he is now nicknamed “lefty”.
