Born on August 17, 1943, to Robert De Niro, Sr. and Virginia Admiral, De Niro was raised by his single mother in the Little Italy areas of Manhattan. Though his parents had separated but still De Niro also spent time with his father who was a lapsed Catholic.
At a young age, he showed interest in acting and thus started doing stage shows during his school days. Soon he dropped out of high school to fully concentrate on his acting career.
He got his first role in the movie “The Wedding Party” (1963), after that he appeared on other projects such as Bloody Mama (1970) and Bang the Drum Slowly (1973). Over the subsequent years, his career gained momentum and soon he gained immense fame and popularity.
In 1976, he married Diahnne Abbott, after dating her for some time. Soon the couple had their first son Raphael. De Niro also adopted Drena, who was born from a previous relationship of Abbott.
