About:

Born on February 11, 1964, in Sandpoint, Idaho, Sarah is of Irish, English, and German ancestry. Daughter of Charles R. “Chuck” Heath and Sarah “Sally” Heath, Palin grew up in Skagway, Alaska. Later the family relocated to Wasilla in 1972.

During her school days, she played musical instruments and also actively participated in sports. Playing basketball, she got a nickname “Sarah Barracuda” and was often regarded as an energetic sportsperson.

Being a dynamic personality, she even participated in a Beauty contest and won the Miss Wasilla pageant in 1984. Later after participating and even winning many other competitions, she began her political career in 1992. At that time, she got elected to the  Wasilla City Council. In 1996, she ran for the mayor of Wasilla and won after defeating John Stein. Throughout her political career, Palin remained a Republican and supported the party since 1982.

 

Personal life:

Sarah married Todd, an Oilfield production worker, on August 29, 1988. She met Todd in her high school and since then they both became friends. Their first child was born in 1989 and together the couple has 5 children.
